The Pathmark Gospel Choir Competitions and the International School Gospel Choir Olympics will be the same weekend in 2008.
Information for Choirs • Venue World Financial Center “Winter Garden” • Time: Youth Division 11 am ****** Open Division 2:30 pm. • Registration: Choir directors or their representatives are required to check in at the registration desk, one hour before scheduled performance. Choirs will be informed of schedule 2 weeks before the competition. • Spectators: Limited seating is available for the handicapped and the elderly. There is plenty of standing room, where the audience can sample items provided by the sponsors of the competition. Admission is FREE! • Instrumentation: Choirs will perform from a stage and furnished with drums, choir microphones and a bass amplifier. Other instruments, especially KEYBOARDS, must be supplied by individual choirs. Instruments requiring additional electrical connections must have advance approval. Call if your choir has special instrumentation needs.
• Judging Criteria Choirs will be judged by the following standards: • Time Limits: Youth Division is allotted 12 minutes. Open Division 15 minutes, to enter stage, sing and exit. Choirs using less than the time assigned incur no penalty. Choirs risk disqualification if they exceed time limit • Music Selection: Gospel songs or medley with sufficient contrast. • Size: All choirs must consist of 12 or more singing members. Singers in Youth division must be 18 years old or younger. Musicians and choral director can be older but cannot sing. • Tone: Quality; Consistency; Projection • Intonation: Soloists and Ensemble • Diction: Clarity; Naturalness • Rhythm: Accuracy • Interpretation: Dynamics; Phrasing; Style; Expression; Tempo • Stage Presence: Appearance; Poise; Follow Leader’s Direction • Ensemble: Choral Blend; Entrances; Balance; Releases; Precision
• Results Prizes will be awarded at conclusion of each Division competition. YOUTH:1st prize; $1000, 2nd prize: $600 and 3rd prize: $400 OPEN:1st prize; $5000, 2nd prize: $2000 and 3rd prize: $1000

Video Videotaping is allowed in the winter Garden Choirs may designate one person who will be permitted into the media area to film any portion of the competition.
