Update: School Gospel Choirs Competition  in Honor of Dr. Camille Taylor - Proposed "May 14, 2010"

February 4, 2010

Update: Here is the latest. We have received solid support from choirs wanting to participate. The delay in responding is due to laying the ground work for the proposal. It is beginning to look very exciting! Those involved in the process and those that would like to be in the process are being assembled. The proposed competition would be Friday May 14th and Sat May 15th. In 2011 the proposal is to change the date to mid April so the colleges will be able to participate. The event may not be limited to school choirs only. More after tomorrow. There will be a program on May 14th the discussions are what will it be.

The Mt. Vernon GospelKnights and GospelChoirs.com are proposing a special program to honor Dr. Camille Taylor who passed away in July of 2009. Dr. Camille Taylor ran the Black Music Caucus International School Gospel Choir Competition for over 25 years before his passing. Friday May 14, 2010 is the proposed date at Mt. Vernon High School in Mt. Vernon, NY. Each school would have a 20 minute presentation. If your school is interested in performing please send your request to GospelChoirs@Yahoo.com. Carson Stapleton is the program advisor of the Mt. Vernon GospelKnights as well as the stage manager for the International School Gospel Choir Competitions. Many have been asking what are we going to do in New York about this competition. We are trying to honor him. Hope you can make it!

Grace and Peace be unto you from God our Father and our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ!
The Lord has kept and brought us over into another year, for this we are truly grateful. 2010 promises to be an awesome, exhilarating, and refreshing year- one that will be filled with double-favor for every Believer. Moreover, we are looking forward to coming together for the first time this year, as an assembly, at our Annual One Day Workshop. We are calling for "all hands-on deck" to make this a stellar kick off event for 2010.
Pastor David Gates of Long Island and Pastor Cordelia Wallace of Brooklyn are prolific, erudite, and renowned speakers that will bring a wealth of information, instruction, enlightenment, and revival to our souls. Please make it your business to be in attendance for both sessions. You will be so glad that you did!
Our Annual One Day Workshop will take place on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at the Mt. Ollie Baptist Church on 1698 St. Marks Ave., Brooklyn, NY. In an effort to be creative while being considerate of your time, we have decided to have only two adult classes in the general assembly format running consecutively from 5 pm to 6 pm and from 6 pm to 7 pm.  A class for our youth on "Stepping" will run simultaneously from 5 pm to 7 pm. Immediately following these general assemblies we will go right into our GMWA Annual Nightly Musical which will feature several local groups and our own Bishop Albert L. Jamison, Sr.
Thank you in advance for your support!  I look forward to seeing you on February 6th!

Sincerely yours,
Dr. Kevin Bond
